More about Rowan Polovin

Rowan is passionate about using Information Technology and the Internet as a business application. He started his first business, SAVI Computer Technology, at the age of 10, designing and programming educational computer software. As a result of this, technology writer Greg Gordon wrote two feature articles about Rowan in the Sunday Times between 1995 and 1996.

During high school, Rowan started several successful online ventures, including Invention-Help.com, an online resource for inventors and inventing, which he still operates today. Rowan matriculated at Crawford College, Sandton with Eight Distinctions including Computer Science, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Speech and Drama, and Music Composition.

Whilst studying for a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Cape Town, Rowan founded Freelanza, South Africa’s first marketplace for professional services. The service currently has over a thousand subscribed Service Professionals around South Africa with expertise ranging from Graphic Design to Journalism, and receives daily projects in many categories. Rowan graduated at UCT with a B.A. in English and Philosophy.

After graduation, Rowan studied towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Management in Enterprise Management from the University of Cape Town. He graduated with Distinction and was the Class Medalist for the Diploma.

Rowan has many interests besides business and entrepreneurship. He is a classically trained pianist and composer, and has received many awards and diplomas for his performances. He is a voracious reader and has knowledge in many different subjects and fields. Rowan is also an avid swimmer, runner, and golfer, and attends gym several times a week.
